Butterfly Netting

Butterfly Netting
Butterfly Netting

We stock pigeon netting, small bird netting and butterfly netting. Generally gardeners put a layer of 6" square pidgeon netting on their fruit and vegetable cages first , then a layer of 3/4" square on top.

During snowy weather the smaller mesh will allow snow to build up on the net and the weight of snow can cause the netting to collapse. Therefore the smaller netting should be removed in snowy weather leaving the pigeon netting in place.

Butterflies are not detered much by 3/4" square netting and especially the large white butterflies will make a bee line ( or butterfly line) for your green vegetables. The large Peacock butterfly shown on our brochure feeds on nectar from flowers such as Buddlias and its caterpillars feed on nettles , so they are not much of a problem on your veg.
